Our Town is proud to announce their Annual Veterans' Day Parade on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 10 AM, going from Academy Field to First Avenue (Rt.401) ,for a wreath-laying at the World War II Memorial on the corner of Cliff Street. The parade then proceeds North on Main Street to the Town Hall to ceremonially conclude at about 11:45 AM. We are very proud to be one of only a handful of RI communities to continue to sponsor this parade, honoring Veterans of all wars, especially those who have given their last full measure of devotion.
The parade will be led by the "Lone Piper" Aaron Lindo and Grand Marshal Robert Allen Greene, a US Army veteran of WWII and Korean wars. A vast array of Color Guards will be joined by our local Kentish Guards and Varnum Continentals, marching along with the Pawtuxet Rangers of Cranston.
Spectators will enjoy the music of the 88th Army National Guard Band as well as our East Greenwich High School Band. Also returning are The Firehouse Dixie Band and the Nightlife Marching Band. Local Boy and Girl Scouts will march along with newly crowned Miss Rhode Island USA Christina Palavra.
Numerous classic and antique cars will participate along with the ever patriotic Blue Knights Law Enforcement motorcyclists. Local fire companies will display an outstanding array of apparatus. The magnificent horses and riders of the Providence Mounted Command will finish the line-up.
