Bruce MacGunnigle Retirement Celebration
Name: Bruce MacGunnigle Retirement CelebrationDate: October 27, 2014Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDTEvent Description:The Main Street Strolls are a rite of summer (and now the holidays) for East Greenwich residents and neighbors. Singers, musicians and artists entertain the bustling sidewalks as they take in the shopping and dining that have come to define this stretch of Route 1 that is our Main Street. But the strolls were not always the event that we know it as today. Through the hard work of a few people along the way a series of festivals were created for all of us to celebrate the town. One person contributed most of the work and deserves most of the credit. The role of the Main Street Coordinator serves to act as a liaison between the businesses on Main Street, the Chamber of Commerce and the Town of East Greenwich to; fund, organize and coordinate the Main Street Strolls. For seven years this was done by one man, Bruce MacGunnigle. Bruce has reached 10 years of service with the Town and is retiring at the end of November. His last day in the Town Clerk's office will be November 26th.
The Town Council will be recognizing his 30+ years of service (both as a volunteer and as an employee) at their meeting on Monday, October 27th at 7pm in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 125 Main Street.
Additionally, he has most recently accepted the honor of marching as the Grand Marshal in the Veteran's Day Parade on Tuesday, November 11th beginning at 10am from Academy Field and concluding on the front steps of Town Hall.
We encourage all that can attend to please come and help us wish a pillar of our town the best of luck in his future endeavors!
