Cornerstone Adult Services, Inc.
Cornerstone Adult Services, Inc. provides day services for elderly residents of East Greenwich who are frail, to adults with disabilities and to those individuals with Alzheimer's disease.
Services at the centers include supervised activities, nursing care, personal hygiene, nutritious meals and arranged transportation. Cornerstone also offers support services for families, education / outreach in the community and training seminars, especially in the area of Alzheimer's disease. Drug Prevention Services
The East Greenwich Drug Program has been operating since 1984. the initiative is under the direction of Robert L. Houghtaling, M. ED.
The Drug Program offers a wide array of services inclusive of: education, intervention, assessment, referral and community development. In addition, the drug program also works closely with the schools, police department, youth and parent groups, as well as other facets of the community.

KENT HOSPITAL
A 359-bed, non-profit acute care hospital and regional medical center. Kent Hospital serves some 300,000 residents across central and southern Rhode Island. It is the state’s largest community hospital with 2,400 employees and a Medical Staff of 600. Located just of I-95 at 455 Toll Gate Road in Warwick, Kent is a member of the Care New England Health System. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is Thomas J. Celona and Mark E. Kent’s Emergency Department is the state’s second busiest, caring for some 60,000 patients annually, with the latest in technology and a setting focused on patient privacy and east of treatment. Its advanced walk-in urgent care and pediatric and critical care emergency units are staffed by a highly skilled team of clinical professionals, supported by advanced diagnostic technologies, including digital x-ray and the latest in high-speed CT , PET CT and MRI scanners.
Hospital services also include: Intensive Care: a 15-bed medical-surgical unit under the full-time direction of board-certified critical care physician specialists; Oncology: Accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program. Kent’s cancer services include a complete range of diagnostics and treatment, including chemotherapy, surgery, rehabilitation and access to radiation oncology; Rehabilitation Medicine: a 24 bed, fully accredited inpatient center is under the direction of a board-certified physician specialist in physical medicine. Other major programs include: Women’s Care Center, offering family-centered maternity services in a newly renovated inpatient unit, featuring private post-partum rooms and the state’s only community-hospital special care nursery for high risk newborns (operated in collaboration with our Care New England partner, Women & Infants Hospital); Wound Recovery Center: a respected regional program that treats non-healing wounds of all types, it is also a 24 hour, nationally accredited, regional referral center for hyperbaric oxygen therapy; Diagnostic Imaging: a full-range of impatient services and a brand-new and patient friendly outpatient imaging center, equipped with high speed, multi-slice CT scanners and the region’s most advanced MRI unit, nuclear medicine, digital angiography and ultrasound; The Women’s Imaging Center: a separate outpatient facility offering digital and screening mammography, ultrasound and bone densitometry in a private and comfortable setting designed by and for women; Laboratory Services: Kent’s fully accredited modern central laboratory performs more than one million tests annually and supports a network of outpatient drawing stations conveniently located in 13 community sites across central Rhode Island. Other outreach and educational services operated by Kent or in collaboration with our Care New England partners including community health screening, diabetes management and nutritional programs. VNA of Care New England
Caring for residents in homes across Rhode Island since 1908, VNA of Care New England is the only fully accredited, community-based full service visiting nurse and home health care agency in Kent County. Services include skilled nursing, rehab therapy, certified nursing assistants, hospice services and private duty home care, which are available 365 days a year. Private duty services help seniors continue to live at home safely and are available 24 hours a day. Flu and pneumonia clinics are held every year in the fall and winter across the state. Bereavement support groups, wellness clinics and seminars on home health care topics are held throughout the year. Meals on Wheels
This private, nonprofit organization uses volunteers to deliver nutritionally balanced meals to the homebound elderly in the East Greenwich area. Hot, catered meals are delivered at lunchtime Monday-Friday. Donations are accepted from those served. Volunteers are welcome on a weekly basis or as substitutes. The time commitment is about two hours.
Meals on Wheels is also looking for some special people to be court appointed Volunteer Guardians in their program funded by RIDEA and the United Way of RI. Volunteers will be trained to help frail, cognitively disabled elderly in the East Greenwich area make important healthcare decisions with dignity and security.

SERVE of East Greenwich
SERVE is run by the East Greenwich Rotary Club and available at Christ Church once a month. We are one of the 350 locations in New England providing this service. It is a smart alternative to food shopping. Everyone regardless of age or income can participate in this supplemental food plan. If you eat, you’re eligible. There are different packages offered to meet all needs. A Family package includes a variety of frozen meats, fresh fruits, vegetables and a staple or two. Also available are produce-only packages along with monthly specials such as sirloin steak, ham, turkey, pot roast and chicken breasts. It is double the value it would normally cost in an average food market.
Two hours of community service during the month is all it takes to qualify to purchase at these co-op prices. If you are giving of you time and energy then serve wants to reward you with top quality food at a 40% discount.

The Treatment Center
A service of South County Hospital, the Treatment Center is a full service primary and urgent-care medical facility, located at 7620 Post Road, North Kingstown, just South of Quonset Point.
The center is open Monday through Friday from 8 am - 6pm, Saturday from 8 am - 4 pm. Closed Sundays, New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Open most other holidays 8 am - 3 pm. Phone 884-1060 or 294-3393.
Services include walk-in care, family medicine, lab testing and x-ray, orthopedics, podiatry and occupational medicine. Convenient physical and occupational therapy services are now offered on-site at the treatment center as well. PT and OT hours are Monday through Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm, Tuesday and Thursday until 6 pm. Phone 295-9300.
East Greenwich Human Services & Senior Services
The Town of East Greenwich Department of Human Services provides basic needs assistance to East Greenwich residents. Through a network of local providers and partnering social service agencies, the department connects residents with services such as food assistance, clothing, utilities, furniture, career counseling, and other forms of support. Select programs require participants to be income eligible. The Administrative office is located in Town Hall, 125 Main Street, on the first floor. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. For more information, call 886-8638.
The Senior Services program is also administered through the Town Human Services department. The Senior Meal Site and majority of offerings are located at St. Luke's Church, 99 Pierce Street. Lunch is served on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at noon; reservations are required two days in advance by calling 886-8669 or 886-8638. The cost for lunch is a suggested donation of $2.50.
Ongoing senior programs include a weekly health clinic every Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A nurse is available to take blood pressure, blood sugar screenings and cholesterol testing; as well as to discuss any other health related topics. Weekly exercise programs include T'ai Chi, Yoga, Sit to be Fit, Line Dancing and a Walking Club. Other enrichment programs include, Art classes, Computers, Book Discussion, Bridge, Bingo, Hi Lo Jack and a multitude of special health and wellness workshops and screenings. Senior Volunteers assist in the meal site kitchen and with other activities. Anyone interested in becoming a senior volunteer can contact 886-8669.
Senior Services also offers transportation to East Greenwich residents age 55 or older. The fee is $2.00 per round trip service or $10.00 for a monthly pass that includes unlimited use. The senior van transports residents to and from the senior meal site Monday through Wednesday; grocery shopping on Thursdays, and Retail shopping on select Fridays. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Harry at 886-8669. For transportation to other local destinations such as hairdressers, banks or doctor's appointments (EG offices only) reservations must be made at least one week in advance and will be scheduled, providing there is sufficient time in the schedule, on a first come, first serve basis.
Westbay Community Action, Inc.
WCA, located at 205 Buttonwoods Avenue, Warwick, RI 02886, phone 732-4660, provides the following services to residents of Kent County.
Westbay Child Care Center (WCCC)
Located at 22 Astral Street in Warwick, the center offers pre-school, Kindergarten and school age day care programs to low income Kent County families. Weekly fees are based upon the family's ability to pay. For information call 463-6620.
Westbay Senior Dining (WSD)
Westbay Senior Dining provides a daily hot lunch to elderly clients throughout central and southern Rhode Island. In East Greenwich WSD meals for people 60 and over and handicapped clients are served Monday through Friday at the Shoreside Apartments at 300 Sixth Avenue. A small donation is requested. Free mini-bus transportation is offered to and from the WSD meal site. Reservations may be made by calling the WSD meal site manager at 884-8045.
Elder and Family Services.
This component provides case management to in-need Kent County families, preparing them a plan of action which will enable them to attain self sufficiency. EFS provides a wide variety of human services, including emergency food, shelter, rent / mortgage assistance, crisis intervention, heating assistance, weatherization of homes and apartments, heating system replacement, testing for leaks of carbon monoxide and other harmful gases, emergency clothing and furniture and R.I. Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Elderly (RIPAE). EFS also works with the R.I. Department of Elderly Affairs to provide abuse investigations, protective services and in-home services to in-need senior citizens. Retired Senior Volunteer Program
RSVP offers area senior citizens meaningful volunteer opportunities in community service jobs. A shopping service is also available for frail, homebound, elderly clients. For information call 732-4660.
Westbay Business Cener

Westbay working Wardrobe
Provides interview and work appropriate clothing to low-income adults who are transitioning from unemployment to work and who have met training and educational goals. This service is by appointment only. Call 737-6334.
Food Stamps
The Warwick Food Stamp Office, which serves East Greenwich, is located in the Warwick Family Center at 195 Buttonwoods Avenue in Warwick. Call 1-800-282-7021.

Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island
Women & Infants' Medical Office Building and Center for Health Education, located at 1050 Main Street, provides a convenient location for women to make prenatal or yearly appointments with an obstetrician / gynecologist who is connected with Women & Infants Hospital. Doctors specializing in internal medicine, gastro-intestinal problems and infertility offer appointments weekly. Mental health, nutrition counseling, mammography and ultrasound appointments and laboratory services and physician services are available.
The Center for Health Education offers women of all ages an extensive variety of health education programs, exercise and yoga classes, childbirth and parenting classes and support groups for new parents. A book and video lending library allows women and their families to access the latest information in women's health, childbirth and parenting issues, aging, relationships, cancer and more.
