Artists & Musicians Wanted for 2019 Main Street Strolls

    April 29, 2019
The East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce and its Main Street Merchants Committee proudly announces its 2019 Main Street Stroll schedule!  Last year was one of the most successful Stroll years in recent memory.  Highlights included: the partial closing down of Main Street for our Taste of EG Stroll and the EG Chamber winning a Best in Rhode Island award for Best Free Attraction on the West Bay.  We also received recognition from Governor Gina Raimondo on that award.

This year, the goal of the Chamber’s Main Street Committee is to build upon last year’s success.  “We continually are striving to make the Strolls even better and provide East Greenwich residents and visitors to EG with a wonderful Main Street experience.”, said East Greenwich Chamber Executive Director, Stephen M.  Lombardi.

The EG Chamber’s Main Street Committee and its Coordinator, Amy Moore, are planning enhancements to the Strolls for 2019.  One opportunity that has been identified is inviting artists to participate in all four Strolls; not just having artists focus on our Arts on Main Stroll, which features Chalk the Block.  The Committee feels there is a great need and opportunity for artists to take advantage of all the foot traffic at our three other very popular Strolls.

Local artists will be invited to showcase and sell their art in a street fair type atmosphere as part of the Main Street Strolls. There is no cost for artists to participate, although those wishing to apply are asked to contact Amy Moore at amy@eastgreenwichchamber.com or by phone (401-490-1526).  Applications for all four Strolls, including Arts on Main, can be submitted to Amy Moore at the EG Chamber, PO Box 514, East Greenwich.  The deadline to participate in our Dogs on Main Stroll is Thursday, May 23.  The deadline to participate in our Arts on Main Stroll is Thursday, June 20.   No artists are allowed to participate without approval from the Chamber.

Local musicians (as well as artists) will be invited to participate in the Music on Main Stroll scheduled for Thursday, July 20.  East Greenwich’s Music on Main Strolls feature music of all types and styles.  Those that are interested in participating should also contact Amy Moore at the EG Chamber.

For those looking to participate in the “Chalk the Block” street drawing contest, each participant who pre-registers by Thursday, June 13. will receive an exclusive CHALK THE BLOCK t-shirt!  Walk in registrations will also be accepted the day of the event.  Prizes will be awarded to the winners in various categories, including individual participants ages four and up as well as family groups.  Participants of all skill levels are welcome.  You can draw by yourself or create a family team.  If you are not ready to show your artistic side, come enjoy the day and vote for your favorite drawing in the People’s Choice Award!  You can also take part in the Arts on Main Stroll and visit all of the Main Street merchants. To register for “Chalk the Block” visit www.mainstreeteg.com or www.eastgreenwichchamber.com.
