A Fitting Experience Now Under New Ownership, Expands Product Offering
East Greenwich, RI - This past winter woman’s lingerie store “A Fitting Experience” was
purchased by East Greenwich Resident Gina Calderone. With a degree in Fashion Design and
years of experience in apparel design, accessory design and garment construction, Calderone
sought a career change that would fulfill her entrepreneurial desires. “I've always wanted to
have my own store.... and when the opportunity arose, the timing was right and I went for it.”
says Calderone.
A Fitting Experience under the prior ownership was a lingerie boutique that specialized in mastectomy prosthetics and accompanying undergarments. Calderone's vision for the new store is to still service women looking for mastectomy products while at the same time increasing selection so there is something for every woman in the East Greenwich area. “I want to help women understand what fits them properly and to help them find something special…because even if no one else knows what you’re wearing underneath or to bed, you do.” says Calderone.
“Eighty to eighty five percent of women are wearing the wrong size bra” says Calderone. Lack of
customer service and employee training at big box stores and chains are often the culprit behind
this problem. According to Calderone “If you go to a chain store there is a sea of racks and you
have no idea how one fits versus another, or even what size you should be trying on. A big box
store is also only going to carry the core sizes 34B-38DD, we carry a 30-44 band and an AA-K
cup”. Personal service and fittings is what Calderone believes will lead to her success over her
competitors. “All bras fit differently, even within the same brands. My customers will be able to
get fitted and have a proper fitting bra and knowledge about options available to them.”
A Fitting Experience does not just carry lingerie but also shape wear “a lot of women buy a great
dress and they forget about the undergarment to go with it. If you don't have the right shape
wear, it isn't going look right” says Calderone. A Fitting Experience also carries; sports bras,
sleepwear and some clothing with plan to expand selection even further.
A Fitting Experience is located at 5600 Post Road in East Greenwich and is open Tuesday
through Friday from 10:30AM to 6PM and Saturday from 10AM-4PM (10AM -2PM in the
