    1st Annual EG Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Contest

    When: Saturday, September 23rd from 10:00-12:00 noon
    Where: Main Street, East Greenwich
    What: First, Second and Third place prizes for best in show and an
    additional prize for the peoples choice!!!

    Please join the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce Main Street Merchant
    Committee from 10:00-12:00 on Saturday Sept 23rd to decorate one of our historic light
    poles on Main St. The decorating will be completed by the start of our stroll which will
    begin at 12:00 noon and includes music, free tastings, a amazing display of mums on
    Town Hall and of course the voting of the scarecrows.

    There are 26 poles available and it is first come first serve. We will have a panel of
    judges for first, second and third place and will place a box outside of Craftersnight (233
    Main Street) for the peoples choice. The First place winner will receive a $50 EG
    Chamber of Commerce gift card and $20 Main Street coffee gift card. Second and third
    place winners win gift cards from Craftersnight.

    Peoples choice will be awarded a $25 gift card for the EG Chamber of Commerce and
    $20 Main Street Coffee gift card. Winners will be announced on the Chamber website
    by Tuesday September 26th.

    Your pole # and location will be emailed to you by Friday 9/22

    Following rules apply:
    You must register to participate, all participants are responsible for providing their
    own materials to decorate their scarecrow
    Some of your decorating can be done at home to save time but the completion of your
    scarecrow bust be done by the start of the stroll at 12:00 noon
    The scarecrows but be facing the street but not crossing over the sidewalk so no parts
    are to impede any cars. Signage should be properly pinned to the scarecrow to
    ensure proper voting
    Scarecrows must be subject to wind and/or rain and the chamber is not responsible
    for any lost or stolen articles.
    Scarecrows cannot obstruct the view of traffic
    Contestants are encouraged to create positive, creative and non offensive
    scarecrows, the chamber has the right to take anything offensive down
    This is a completely free event and voting will happen by the end of the stroll with the
    winner announced on the EG Chamber Facebook page on 9/26
