    Event Description:
    WINTER’S EVE 6TH ANNUAL JURIED ART EXHIBITION AND GALA Ring in the season by celebrating Winter’s Eve Opening Reception, at the East Greenwich Free Library, Thursday, December 8, 82 Peirce Street. The evening begins at 6 pm in the Library’s Howard Silverman Gallery. Delicious sweet/savory hors d’oeuvres provided by some of East Greenwich’s finest restaurants, including Rasa, Wild Harvest, Tio Mateos, Red Stripe, Silver Spoon, Besos Kitchen & Cocktails, Dave's Marketplace, and more. Wine from the Savory Grape will be served. Adding to the festive mood, the entire Library will be seasonally bedecked by East Greenwich-Warwick Garden Club members. Live music will be provided by the string quartet Four over Four, with Esteban Wu, Rafael Boccuni-Godfrey, George Richter, Tasha Sussman Moss. An evening highlight will be the announcement of the Juror’s Award, a solo 2017 gallery exhibit and B&H Framing's Honorable Mention award. The juror for 2016 is Richard Whitten. Whitten earned a B.A. in Economics from Yale University and a M.F.A. in Painting from the University of California at Davis where he studied with both Wayne Thiebaud and Robert Arneson. He is presently a Professor of Painting at Rhode Island College. Richard has participated in many solo, 2-person, and group exhibitions and is the recipient of a number of awards and fellowships. This free event is sponsored by the Friends of East Greenwich Library. The exhibit will be open to the public December 5 to January 3, 2017.
